TELETHON JUVENILE DIABETES FAMILY CENTRE
BGC Construction is proud to have again built a significant health facility for the Western Australian community.
The new Telethon Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre was designed by innovative architects, Zuideveld Marchant Hur and its technically demanding construction was made affordable by the generous sub-contractors and materials suppliers who supported BGC’s commitment to minimising costs without compromising on quality.
Although a cutting-edge, high-technology resource, the new Centre’s gently curving roof and walls imbue it with a welcoming warmth and ‘softness’. The effort to create a friendly, non-threatening environment in which to offer psychological and peer support, information, education and clinical care to young patients and their families, extends into the internal design and colour scheme.
The entire complex feels like a large, comfortable family centre which you can drop into for a coffee, a play and a chat at any time.
This magnificent new Centre is the first of its kind in Australia, so WA now has a world-class facility with which to educate, support and connect children and young people with type 1 diabetes.
Minister Kim Hames officially declared the Telethon Juvenile Diabetes Family Centre open on July 2nd.
