BGC wins big at the Master Builders Awards
BGC was well represented at the 2017 Master Builders Western Australia – Excellence in Construction Awards, with BGC Construction taking out the Best Seniors/Aged Person Multi-Unit Development, Best Multi-Unit Development Under 20 Units and the Best Industrial Building categories on the night.
Sealing the strong representation for the company, BGC Contracting took out the Best Resource Construction Award.
The Excellence in Construction Awards night, held on 22 July at Perth Convention Centre, showcased the best of Western Australia’s construction projects in the residential, commercial, resource and industrial sectors.
BGC Construction’s award haul recognised three of its impressive projects.
The Akora lifestyle apartments located within Swancare’s Bentley Park community won Best Seniors/Aged Person Multi-Unit Development for its modern and bright aesthetic, and effective use of materials to construct functional living spaces fit for seniors. Each apartment is designed to be low maintenance, energy efficient and secure. The five-storey building comprises a total of 44 apartments together with basement parking, a private resident’s lounge, green room and terraced café.
19 Douro in South Fremantle, comprising five commercial suites and 20 apartments over three floors, won Best Multi-Unit Development. The project was acknowledged for its use of natural light, energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives. Construction of the building took a unique approach by exposing and celebrating the historical structure of the building.
The $45 million Hitachi Construction Machinery corporate services facility in Forrestdale was awarded Best Industrial Building. BGC Construction was recognised for its incorporation of innovative technologies and environmentally-friendly design across the four steel-framed buildings, which include a two-storey office and warehouse, branch and amenities buildings.
BGC Contracting won the Best Resource Construction Project for the Roy Hill Package 3 – Port Landside Works in Port Hedland. The project comprised construction, bulk earthworks, road and bridge construction, and structural concrete.
