RAPIDS LANDING PRIMARY SCHOOL WELCOMES STUDENTS
It’s already been a busy year for BGC Construction, with Margaret River’s newest primary school, Rapids Landing Primary School, reaching practical completion in early January – just in time to welcome its first cohort of students for the 2018 school year.
The new independent public school is an important piece of infrastructure for the community, and came at a time of expected town growth as numbers approach capacity at Margaret River Primary School.
The new school has state-of-the-art facilities including an administration building, a dental health clinic, four teaching blocks, a library, an undercover area, canteen and a new oval.
The $16.7 million contract was awarded to BGC Construction through Tenders WA just two days prior to the 2016 Christmas shutdown, with work commencing in late January 2017. The project achieved completion on 9 January 2018.
Regional Manager of BGC Construction Ross Marshall was extremely pleased with the quality of work which was completed within the tight timeframe.
“We delivered the project on time and within budget, making it a successful contract all round,” Ross said.
“Given the regional location, challenging timeframe and inclement weather delays, the BGC team is to be congratulated for their outstanding achievement – with particular thanks to Christian Niedo and Craig Winter, who led the regional team.”
The school oval will be available to the local community, accommodating to the growing number of junior and senior sports activities within the Shire of Augusta Margaret River.
Completion of the project would not have been possible without the input of several other BGC divisions, including BGC Brikmakers, BGC Plasterboard and BGC Cement.
