BUSSELTON CIVIC CENTRE – COMMENDED FOR BUILDING EXCELLENCE
The Busselton Civic and Administration Centre has been recognised as one of the State’s best regional projects, taking out three categories at the 2018 Master Builders-Bankwest Building Excellence Awards.
Built by BGC Construction, the facility won awards for Excellence in Building Practice; Best Commercial Industrial Alterations and Additions Over $10M; and 2018 South West Bankwest Best Regional Project.
BGC Construction Project Supervisor Craig Winter was also honoured as Supervisor of the Year.
City of Busselton Mayor Grant Henley said the team worked hard to deliver a facility that would meet the needs of the City for decades to come.
“The facility’s delivery, on time and within budget, is testament to the professionalism of BGC employees who worked collaboratively with the council, the City’s project management team, the architects, and other external contractors and consultants engaged in the delivery of the project,” he said.
“The team should be commended for providing a building that is architecturally stunning, highly functional and environmentally friendly, and will sustain the needs of the City long into the future.”
BGC Construction’s tender offered an innovative approach to the project, using fewer construction stages and an overall build time one year less than that anticipated by the City.
The reduced building time minimised disruption to the City of Busselton.
BGC Construction’s Regional Manager Ross Marshall thanked the City of Busselton for demonstrating their faith in the project, BGC Precast for supplying the hollowcore slabs for the build, MCG Architects, the subcontractors, suppliers and the BGC Construction team.
“I am extremely proud of our team’s dedication and skill in delivering the project to such a high standard, particularly during Busselton’s wettest winter in ten years,” said Ross.
“A special congratulations also goes to Craig for his well-deserved recognition as Supervisor of the Year.
