BGC CONSTRUCTION COMPLETES WORKS ON AGED-CARE FACILITY

BGC Construction is celebrating the completion of Opal Carine, a modern residential aged care facility located in Carine.

The new 145-bed residential aged care home opened its doors in July and will offer the community access to specialist aged care services including permanent, respite and dementia-specific care.

BGC Construction Retirement and Unit Development Manager John Irvine said this was the first project BGC Construction had delivered for the Opal Aged Care group.

“We were extremely happy with the final outcome, and we hope this will be the first of many contracts between BGC Construction and Opal Aged Care,” he said.

The beautifully-designed accommodation features an on-site café, hairdresser, courtyards and luxurious living and dining rooms to meet with friends and family. Two specialist memory support wings and a memory garden will also be accessible for residents to safely enjoy as they choose.

The project also benefited from the support of BGC divisions Brikmakers, BGC Concrete and BGC Builders Supplies. Brikmakers contribution included the supplying of a large portion of the bricks used in the development, BGC Concrete supplied all of the concrete required to construct the facility, including to the contiguous piling in the basement, and for the external paving which featured exposed aggregate mixes and coloured pigment. BGC Builders supplies contribution included amongst other items all of the doors and skirtings required throughout the facility.

The completion of Opal Carine reaffirms BGC Construction’s track record in delivering state-of-the-art aged care facilities, with other recent construction contracts including the Alice Ross King Aged Care facility for RAAFA at Bullcreek and the currently under construction 120-bed Aged Care facility for Opal in Alfred Cove.
