BUSSELTON BOASTS NEW CIVIC CENTRE

The City of Busselton has been given a $23.3 million facelift with the completion of a new administration building and multi-functional civic centre in the popular coastal destination.

The facility, built by BGC Construction, was finished on May 26 and is designed to meet the needs of Busselton’s fast-growing community.

BGC Construction Project Supervisor Craig Winter said “the new centre offered a mix of administrative and civic capabilities”.

“The new building contains a spacious foyer, coffee shop, upstairs council chambers, and multiple office and meeting spaces,” he said.

“A new contemporary 400 capacity Civic Function Centre with commercial kitchen, bar and servery, dance floor, specialised audio and visual lighting equipment is available for private hire and public events. To achieve this revitalisation, a collection of old buildings and dongas (demountable buildings) were demolished and two and three-storey wings were integrated into the structure of an existing building.

The new building features a sleek design which reflects and celebrates the City of Busselton’s proud maritime history.

The Civic Centre features state-of-the-art external feature historic graphics of regional southwest landmarks on the façade of the building, which come to life at night with impressive exterior lighting.
